PICTURE EXCHANGE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (PECS)

PECS Is an Alternative and Augmentative Communication System developed by Andy Bondy and Lori Frost based on principles of applied behaviour analysis. This is a system wherein pictures of powerful reinforcers are exchanged for functional communication. PECS can be used across all ages and disabilities. While implementing PECS it also addresses development of speech. PECS has 6 phases and are as follows:
